The Kolkata Shishu Kendra was started in February 2005 with the idea to work for the children of commercial sex worker. The centre provides protection, care, education and social support through well-equipped staff. There is one honorary Project Director, one Financial Controller, 3 housemothers, one supervisor, one visiting doctor, one music teacher and tutor who work for the project. At present there are 33orphans and neglected children are being taken of for their accommodation, food, education, and future development. Children of Shishu Kendra attend the Sukhranjan Vidya Mandir School.
With the view to separate the accommodation for boys and girls and to give them spacious accommodation Lucilla Monti and SAMPARC™ trust both agreed to renovate the old building. Ground floor for the girls and 1st floor for the boys with separate entrance was decided. Under the management of local managing committee chaired by Mr. Narpat Singhvi and Shree Amol Banerjee who did the hard work to complete the project with the help of members of 41 Palli Club and other local members of the neighborhood the entire shishu kendra is now renovated with separate accommodation for boys and girls with separate entrance. The aim is to provide assistance to 60 orphan children.
Newly renovated and constructed children’s house in Kolkata, known as SAMPARC™ Kolkata Shishu Kendra was inaugurated by shri K.K.Singhvi– President of SAMPARC™ on 15th April 2009 in presence of Mrs Lucilla Monty, Ms Assunta of INSIEME along with other trustee of SAMPARC™ Mr.Girish Lakhe, Mr.Ajay Argade, Mrs Pushpa Singhvi, Mrs Lata Pande, Mrs.Ratna Banerjee, and Mr.Amit Banerjee.
