Housing Project SAMPARC has started a low cost housing project with the help of Habitat for Humanity & Jimmy Carter Work project near Malavli Railway Station. Today it is a model housing society owned by women with 15 women board members, a replica to be followed by women groups elsewhere. Through this SAMPARC helped the economically poor, particularly women, to build their own houses. The SHGs (Micro-Credit Groups) of SAMPARC identified 100 beneficiaries for the initial phase. The inauguration of these houses were performed by Mr. Jimmy Carter, Former US President, who came along with his wife Rosalyn and around 2000 volunteers from all over the world including theater and film personalities. Planning for construction of the next lot of another 100 houses is already in the pipeline.
Women’s Counseling Centre When SAMPARC realized that micro-credit is not a universal remedy by itself and it could help eradicate poverty only if it is complemented with other measures like health care, literacy, women's rights and micro-enterprise, it started another activity. While micro- insurance, income generation, housing, entrepreneurship development, etc. are already taken care of, it moved towards strengthening the hands of the women by focusing on their rights and privileges and to equip them to stand for their cause.
For this purpose, a Women’s Counseling Centre was established at Malavli. The full time Women’s Counselor at this centre visits various villages to create awareness about domestic violence, women’s rights & other issues of women. We also encourage the women to report the matter to our centre so that amicable solution can be given to settle matter after proper counseling. This Centre functions as a service provider to cater to women’s domestic problems.
SAMPARC Counseling centre has attended 63 cases out of which 6 cases are registered with the Court in Wadgaon where our counselor is coordinating with the local police station and Court whereas 20 cases have been sorted out by our counselor, these cases are mainly related to torture due to alcoholism, by in-laws, property disputes and physical harassment by husband, etc.
In this month, we already conducted awareness program in Dahivali Village on domestic violence in which 40 women were present. Also SAMPARC’s representatives attended a Health Seminar in Lonavla where we gave exposure on the activities of our SHG & Counseling Centre. 70 Women who attended in this seminar have expressed their willingness to be associated with SAMPARC.
Adv. Smt Ranjana Bhosale, Adv. Pushpa Singhvi, Dr. Manda Soman and Dr Satish Patil are the advisors and consultants for the centre. The BDO of Maval Taluka is also involved with SAMPARC in the Lok Adalat.
Shallowell Project In Ghutka Water is the most pressing needs of the 21st century. Although water was considered to be omnipresent in the past today it has become very scarce. It seems water is abundant globally, but there is no water for domestic consumption. In some regions water withdrawals are so high that the ground water reserves are being depleted the highest users of the water is agriculture accounting for 70% of the water withdrawal worldwide and over 90% in low income countries. Irrigation remains the prime engine for agriculture but till now around 62% agriculture is rain fed. The area receives about 200 inches rain during the monsoons, but due to steep slopes the rain water couldn’t be held back. Due to scarcity of water after the monsoon, the farmers could only produce one crop every year. This affected the economical condition of the farmers and compelled them to migrate to the cities in search of employment. Due to the poor economical condition of the small and marginal farmers they are unable to store rain water for agriculture therefore can cultivate only one crop in a year. This directly affects their livelihood and the villages Mulshi Taluka of Pune district of Maharashtra, in India are no different.
The Shallow Well Project turned out to be a boon to these depressed farmers. SAMPARC motivated the villagers to go for the cultivation of two crops now, which increased their income and stopped migration. Accordingly five wells with depth from 34-48 feet and width 22-26 feet were constructed in Gutka Village for 17 farmers. Since the wells are operational the condition of the farmers has changed drastically and they now go for second crops. This project has been supported by CAPART, under the Aegis of Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India

Nanhi Kali Project Objective of this project is to increase the literacy rate among girls in the rural interiors whose parents are illiterate. Since last eleven years, educational support program is being implemented in these areas, which has resulted in bringing about a drastic change in the outlook of the women from these villages. More than 428 girls from 32 villages are being supported through this program. The program has given strength at the village level for the growth of education of the girl child.
Girls in these regions now aim to continue their study. The number of school drop-outs has reduced and marriages of girls are done only when the girls reach the age of 18 years. Female literacy rate has drastically increased & child marriages have totally stopped.
SAMPARC Central Counselor, Mrs Ratna Banerjee regularly conducts workshops on personality development, family life education, life skill, education management, carrier objective / goal, attitude, self respect and self-esteem.
We involve the parents and family members of the Nanhi Kali children. The Parents meeting is conducted once in every quarter to discuss various matters on education and progress of their child. By adopting this participative method, we are giving opportunities to the family members to know the progress of the children. SAMPARC also involves school teachers to guide and support the progress of the child.
